Like a striptease in reverse, the scantily clad Soho club The Windmill - which became famous for its shocking tableaux of nude women in the 1930s, and for staying open all through the Second World War - is now looking to add some layers of clothing and rebrand as a theatre.
On Thursday, Westminster city council will discuss plans to restore the building. According to the Times, the owners of the lap-dancing club, Immerse London, have spent £7 million transforming it into a 250-seat auditorium and 100-seat theatre lounge, and are planning a new cabaret called Revudeville inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
