Trade Me Property’s December’s listings showed these average asking prices:
New Brighton $371,1000 – a drop of 5 per cent on the same month in 2019
Lyttelton $541,250 – up 2.9 per cent on the previous year
Sumner $1,262,450 – after climbing a massive 35 per cent on the year prior. The fact that buying in New Brighton or Lyttelton is on average much cheaper, only means you get more for less there– if the suburb’s features and feel are also to your liking.

Julia Sugarman says she instantly fell in love with the community and the views of Lyttelton. There s always something to look at when you live above a working port: tugs, freighters, ferries, constant movement on the waterfront.
