Technology-related counters, primarily of semiconductor manufacturers, continued to press forward on the first trading day after the Lunar New Year break. At 11:30am, shares in Vitrox Corp Bhd, Genetec Technology Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI), KESM Industries Bhd and Pentamaster Corp Bhd were among the local bourse's top gainers.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The main index at Bursa Malaysia pared some of its gains at mid-morning today against the backdrop of record-high regional markets.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI was up 11.82 points to 1,611.24. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,614.92.
Gainers led losers by 610 to 263, while 401 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 2.3 billion valued at RM1.07 billion.
The gainers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, PMB Technology Bhd, Central Global Bhd and KESM Industries Bhd.
The actively traded stocks included Dagang NeXchange Bhd, Luster Industries Bhd, DGB Asia Bhd, QES Group Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd and Iris Corp Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.89 points to 1,609.31. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,614.92.
Market breadth was positive with 538 gainers and 234 losers, while 727 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 5.56 billion shares valued at RM2.56 billion.
The top gainers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Genetec Technology Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, PMB Technology Bhd, Grand Hoover Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries and Central Global Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.62 points to 1,582.95. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,586.90.
Gainers led losers by 557 to 446, while 458 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.93 billion shares valued at RM2.28 billion.
The gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, PLS Plantations Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and MISC Bhd.
The actively traded stocks included Dagang NeXchange Bhd, EA Holdings Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, QES Group Bhd, KNM Group Bhd and Opcom Holdings Bhd.
As at 10.32am, the Bursa Malaysia Technology Index had risen 0.98 point or 1.15% to 86.02 points.
Among the top gainers on Bursa were Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI), Genetec Technology Bhd, UWC Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd and ViTrox Corp Bhd.
Four counters reached a new peak this morning. They were MPI, Genetec, UWC and ViTrox.
Leading the pack, MPI rose 3.39% or RM1.22 to a fresh peak of RM37.16, bringing its market capitalisation up to RM7.8 billion, making it the top gainer across Bursa. It had seen some 192,800 shares traded.
Year to date (YTD), MPI had gained 43.14% from when it was trading at RM25.96 apiece.
