Alley Repertory Theater returns to the stage at the Visual Arts Collective with PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT: THE MUSICAL by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott.
Based on the smash-hit movie, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert is the heartwarming, uplifting story of three friends, Tick, Bernadette, and Adam. A glamorous Sydney-based performing trio, they agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback. Hopping aboard an old, battered bus (nicknamed Priscilla), these friends search for love and friendship and end up finding more than they ever imagined. This Olivier and Tony award-winning musical features a hit parade of dance floor favorites including “It’s Raining Men,” “I Will Survive,” “Hot Stuff,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Go West,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and “I Love The Nightlife”. Wildly fresh and funny, this extravaganza features an array of colorful characters and is a journey to the heart of FABULOUS!

Music and performing arts venues were some of the first things to shut down last spring during the pandemic and have largely remained closed even as restaurants, bars, malls and other businesses reopened. Even after the COVID-19 vaccine is available in Idaho, indoor concerts and performances are likely not to bounce back immediately.
In Garden City, the Visual Arts Collective has been the focus of a community fundraising effort. VAC owner Sam Stimpert says he initially resisted the support, saying he thought other small businesses or organizations were more worthy. Stimpert says the financial and emotional support he s received has kept him going through the hardest year of his small buiness.
