A peace rally kicked off late Saturday morning in North Nashville calling for an end to violence across the city.
The peace rally, which began at 1511 Jefferson Street, focused on solidarity, unity and a call for an end to gun violence, community organizer Gicola Lane said. We ve lost a lot of people to both community and police violence, Lane said. The goal is to really just call for absolute peace across the city.
The rally was followed by a march to City Hall. A downtown concert will follow.
Nashville Peacemakers Founder & CEO Clemmie Greenlee, one of about 50 people who attended Saturday s morning rally, said she also attended a Friday night peace service which welcomed about 50 people.
