The One Book, One San Diego selection for teens is "Iveliz Explains It All" by Andrea Beatriz Arango. It follows a seventh grader, Iveliz, as she tries to navigate her mental health. The book received a 2023 Newbery Honor Award. Arango will be in San Diego Dec. 1.
The truth is that this has little to do with protecting kids and more to do with making a political statement that creates a problem where one did not exist.
