where 19 children and two teachers were gunned down at robb elementary school, the president address the nation about guns and mass shootings. pleading with congress to do something. more kids than soldiers killed by guns, for god s sake. how much more carnage are we willing to accept? how many innocent american lives must be taken before we say enough? enough. the president took to the page of the wall street journal to outline his plan for tackling inflation and rising prices. in a new york times op-ed, he announced his approval of advanced rocket systems and munitions for ukraine as it battles russia s invasion. russia s war as contributing to high gas prices here at home. and then there is the baby formula shortage, which the president said he did not personally know about until april. now, despite good jobs numbers and low unemployment numbers, his job approval rating remains low. on friday, the president reminded the country that finding a solution to rising prices
that s correct, this is a memorial near the town square in uvalde, where people have gathered around a fountain. and as you can see, they have laid out candles and balloons and messages to those that were lost in last week s tragic shooting and to their families as well. we actually moved away from the elementary school in part because the president is visiting uvalde, today, and preparations are under way right now for his arrival. that s where we begin this morning. the president once again taking on the role of consoler in chief. in a few hours, president biden is set to visit this area and the memorial that has been set up at robb elementary school. the scene of only the latest mass shooting in the united states. president biden is scheduled to attend church here, and meet with family members of those who were killed. the president meeting with 21 families, 21 people killed, 2 teachers, 19 students, most of them third and fourth graders. 21 families forever marked when
parkland, el paso, pittsburgh, brooklyn. i ask the question so many of you are asking, why are we not protecting our kids? why is nothing changing? as a journalist, i ve had to cover too many of these mass shootings. perhaps we re becoming desensitized. as an american, a parent, you send your kids to school on an average day and never see him or her again. it s unspeakable yet that s what happened in uvalde, texas. i know this gets into background checks and red flag laws and other measures that advocates call common sense gun reform and opponents call a breach of the second amendment. there are also questions about how the texas police misled journal withists about school journalists about school security, about mental health, about social media radicalization and whether there s a way to stop sick, twisted men who just turned 18 as in texas and buffalo from legally buying guns. but the bottom line is that washington is paralyzed. it s highly unlikely that anything wil
