A resident of Vision Rest Home in Sarnia has died from COVID-19.
The death is Sarnia-Lambton’s 37th from COVID-19 and the second from Vision since the home entered outbreak Jan. 13.

Three people have also died amid an ongoing outbreak at Village on the St. Clair retirement home in Sarnia, and one amid an outbreak ongoing at Twin Lakes Terrace nursing home, also in Sarnia.
There were another 10 COVID-19 cases reported Friday in Lambton public health’s daily update, for a total of 1,817 since the pandemic began.

Just two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Sarnia-Lambton Wednesday, the lowest daily increase this month.
With the two new cases, the area’s total case count over the course of the pandemic was 1,790 Wednesday, Lambton public health officials reported.

There were 28 more resolved cases, for a running total of 1,657.
Active cases dropped below 100 – to 97 from 123.
One of the new cases was at Vision Rest Home in Sarnia, where there have now been 37 cases – 30 among residents – and one death since an outbreak there began Jan. 13.

Two more people have died of COVID-19 at Bluewater Health.
Both were seniors from a facility that is in outbreak, said hospital group spokesperson Julia Oosterman.

The number of people who have died of COVID-19 in hospital at Bluewater Health is now 21.
The deaths weren’t part of the official data Thursday from Lambton public health, which continued to show 28 deaths from COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton since March.
New information will be reflected in tomorrow’s update, said Dr. Sudit Ranade, Lambton’s medical officer of health.
