iPolitics We must act now to protect our vision (Pexels photo) May is Vision Health Month, a time to raise awareness of eye health and ways to prevent vision loss. But this year is different. As Canada continues its fight against COVID-19, we are fighting another battle against vision loss.  With “elective” surgeries continuing to be cancelled, including those for preventable or reversible eye diseases like cataracts and glaucoma, more Canadians are losing their vision. As leaders of national organizations caring for, or advocating on behalf of, these people and many of us living with vision loss ourselves we urge all governments to work with us to reduce the progression of eye disease and vision loss through preventive health measures. They were critical before the pandemic, and COVID-19 has only accelerated their need.
