Why Rajasthan’s CM Ashok Gehlot does not fear the CBI
Opposition-ruled states may be wary of letting the central agency into their state, but Gehlot has frequently brought it in to probe politically sensitive criminal cases

When Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ordered a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry into the alleged encounter killing of Kamlesh Prajapat, an alleged opium smuggler, on June 1, this added to a number of cases in which the state has asked the central agency to investigate politically sensitive crimes. However, Gehlot has prohibited the CBI from registering a suo motu case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Rajasthan. As of now, the CBI has yet to respond to the request to take over the
