Nova Scotia will continue to use virtual care into the future to ensure people without a doctor get access to primary care, a health official said Tuesday.
Virtual Care Nova Scotia offers unattached patients access to doctors and nurse practitioners via app or website. Those patients can also be referred to a network of in-person clinics across the province when a video or phone call isn't adequate.
The Nova Scotia government is hoping to recruit more doctors and nurse practitioners to provide virtual care to the more than 125,000 people who are now on the Need a Family Practice Registry. Many patients are having trouble getting appointments because the system is swamped.
