Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): A book titled “State, governance and development in Northeast India” published by the research committee of Sazolie College was launched by the college’s principal, Dr. Gopal Basnet, during a programme held at the college’s auditorium on April 11. An update from Sazolie College stated that the book was an outcome of a two-day national seminar, which was jointly organised by the department of Sociology and Research Committee in 2019. It was edited by Dr. Thepfusalie Theunuo, Dr. Narola Dangti and Dr. Kangzangding Thou. Discussing the book, Dr. Narola Dangti, stated that it explored the idea of a state as understood as a territorial unit, ordered by a sovereign power with a centralised civil rule and how the idea was translated in the Northeastern part of India. She added that the book examined the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial Northeastern states of India. She mentioned that the book looked into the disparities of urbanisation and development
