USDAâs National Agricultural Statistics Service recently published the annual Poultry Production and Value report. This report highlights the importance poultry plays in the stateâs agriculture.
West Virginiaâs combined value of production and value of sales from broilers, turkeys, eggs and the value of sales from chickens in 2020 was $246.3 million. Of the combined total, 41% was from broilers, 36% from turkeys, 23% from eggs and less than 1% from sales of chickens. Chart provided by Charmaine Wilson
West Virginia Broilers Produced
There were 70.2 million broilers produced in West Virginia during 2020. Total live weight was 273.8 million pounds. Value of production totaled $99.9 million. The average live weight equivalent price is 36.5 cents per pound. Equivalent price is for the commercial producer, not contractees.
