Virgin Australia Delays Resumption of International Flights

MIAMI – The announcement by the Australian Government on a revised borders opening date, not foreseen before the end of 2021, has prompted Virgin Australian (VA) to update its short-haul international network. New predictions for the aviation sector, including for international travel, issued by the Australian Federal Government and a low number of visitors expected at least until mid 2022, has pushed VA to delay most of its shorty-haul international flights to at least Decembre 2021. The destinations impacted by this decision include Fidj and Indonesia flights. Virgin Australia is, however, taking full advantage of the Trans Tasman travel bubble and continue to operate Boeing 737 flights from Sydney (SYD) to Queenstown (ZQN) and Brisbane (BNE) to ZQN, starting September 18 followed by Melbourne (MEL) to ZQN effective December 7, 2021.

another situation. a bit of a turn here that doesn t involve another airliner. this one was an australian plane that had a hijack scare. can you tell us more about what happened there and what we know now? reporter: it sounded scary. a virgin australian flight from brisbane, australia, this morning to bali and an unruly passenger disrupted things onboard that flight according to local media. the pilot actually turned on the emergency transponder more than twice. thankfully in the end the plane landed safely. that unruly passenger was taken into custody at the airport and passengers were able to proceed as normal. i can imagine given how much mh370 has been in the news, i imagine that caused extra panic for those folks aboard that flight and especially for folks in australia. let s bring in the author of why planes crash. let s talk about that flight right there.
