Mexico city nearly landed on an occupied runway here at sfo. This is just the latest in a string of mishaps or near accidents in recent months. Aero mexico flight 668 was given clearance to land on runway 28r at sfo yesterday before noon. But for unknown reasons the pilot headed towards the wrong runway. The one located right next to it. At the same time the Virgin America plane full of passengers was stopped on that runway awaiting take off. Air Traffic Controllers noticed the error when the plane was about a mile from the airport. This is the latest mishap at sfo in the last six months. In november a United Express sky west plane taking off for oregon hit a bird. The bird sucked into one of its two engines. The plane like this one was in the air for 30 minutes before it made an Emergency Landing back at sfo.
