Mumbai: A major fire broke out at a
COVID-19 centre in Virar in the neighbouring
Palghar district in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the Corona Control Room of the
Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, at least 13 patients have succumbed to the blaze.
As per the preliminary information, the fire broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital around 3 am. The fire was reportedly preceded by an explosion in the AC unit of the ICU.
Soon after, the affected patients were shifted to nearby hospitals.
