sarah huckabee sanders is with reporters. we have asked for more of a readout but so far the white house has been mum on this. back for a second to the attorney general s alleged meeting back in april of last year at the mayflower in washington. the key moment, if it ever occurred, some sort of exchange at a v.i.p. gathering before then sunday trump s speech. we did find this, video from a few minutes after the v.i.p. reception. in it you see the ambassador making his way to a seat down there in the front. less than a minute later you see senator sessions walk in across the front row, walk past the ambassador, saying nothing, eventually just sitting behind him. so that s the video. back with the panel. jeffrey lord, i know you appreciate the tradition of people saying they don t recall certain things. it does seem like the russian ambassador though was very forgettable to a lot of people who met with him. he was apparently forgettable to nancy pelosi too who said she
campus for an event that had been set up and at the mayflower let me follow up on that one. i didn t know he would be in the audience. so at the mayflower, there was this, i guess, v.i.p. reception first and then people went into the speech. that s my impression. that s my recollection. and you were part of the v.i.p. reception? yes. general sessions, one of the troubling things that i need to sort through is, mr. comey s testimony last week was that he felt uncomfortable when the president asked everyone else to leave the room. he left the impression that you lingered, perhaps feeling uncomfortable about it as well. i ll let you answer correct if that s not the right impression. after this meeting took place, which clearly director comey
at the may flower let me follow-up on that one. i didn t know he would be in the audience. at the may flower there was this vip reception first and people went into the speech. just so i get a that s my recollection. you were part of the vip reception? yes. general sessions, one of the troubling things that i need to sort through is mr. comey s testimony last week is he felt uncomfortable when the president asked everyone else to leave the room. he left the impression that you lingered with perhaps the sense that you felt uncomfortable with it as well. i will allow you to correct it if it s not right. after this meeting took place, which clearly director comey felt had a level of
clear about one thing. jeff sessions adamantly denies that he had a meeting with sergey kislyak at that mayflower hotel event. his spokesman denies it on the record. and this is one of the reasons, you know, i ve known about this and i ve been reporting on this meeting for a while as i think have some other reporters in this town. and there has been a lot of haziness about what exactly congressional investigators were learning. and that s why i was really glad to see senator al franken on your show last night go on the record and say look, we have reason to believe, that s the phrase he used, that this was not as had been first reported. recall that this was a speech that donald trump gave during the primary, sponsored by a russian friendly think tank. and before the speech, there was a vip reception at which sergey kislyak, the russian ambassador was present, along with some other diplomats. jared kushner was in the room. jeff sessions was in the room. it was reported that donald trum
i intend to find out. before the speech, there was a vip reception. and the russian ambassador was there, as well as jeff session. i don t recall. it is possibility. his explanation was terrible. i don t recall. it seems like amnesia is contagious. everybody in this organization seems to get it from one another. putin for the first time, he has acknowledged russian hackers could have played a role in meddling with the u.s. election. private russian hackers not connected to the government could have been involved. if they are in patriotic mood. putin is enjoying this. at what point do they start laughing at us as a country? why would the president s son-in-law jared kushner want secret back channel communications with the kremlin that no one in the american government would know about during the transition? from the obama administration to the trump administration.
