KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Despite the constitutional guarantee ensuring a life free of violence and coercion, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021/22 reported rampant cases of violence against women and girls (VAWG). Out of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases reported across the country in the fiscal year, a whopping 78.82 percent are found to be domestic violence, according to the police.
The United Nations (UN) defines Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) as any gender-based act resulting in, or likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women.
