Holy Comforter has been hosting indoor worship with strict limits on attendance since the beginning of the pandemic. But at this time in the liturgical calendar and this time in the pandemic, said the Rev. Jerry Smith, rector of Holy Comforter, people need to be together.

Many congregations are prioritizing the safety and health of their loved ones when creating their Christmas service plans. Reverend Mycal Brickhouse says that Cary First Christian Church is holding a virtual Christmas Eve service to be a good neighbor. We are trying to be safe and follow the social distancing guidelines as best we can, Brickhouse said. The state currently has a limit on indoor gatherings, but it does not apply to worship or religious gatherings. Health officials recommend faith leaders hold online gatherings for the holidays to limit community spread of the virus.
