The automobile industry in India has praised the launch of the country s first crash testing program, Bharat NCAP. The program aims to improve road safety standards by implementing an authentic and objective rating system for vehicles. Car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Renault have expressed their support for the program and have committed to offering models for testing.
ACMA President Sunjay Kapur informed with deeper focus on localisation of advanced technologies, vehicle electrification will continue to rise in the local market driven by cost economics. These investments in developmental capabilities will also help the industry neutralize threats if at all Tesla’s Chinese suppliers were to set up base in the country.
