On Wednesday, the series finale between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox was postponed following a COVID-19 outbreak in Cleveland’s clubhouse.
La Russa led the White Sox to a 93-69 record in the regular season. They won their first division title since 2008. From a results standpoint, it certainly looks like Chicago made the right hire.

Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer off Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito on Tuesday night, and appeared to say “Hand’s not sticky anymore; it’s not sticky anymore” while crossing home plate. That’s in reference to Major League Baseball’s recent foreign substance ban, so Donaldson basically implied that Giolito can’t use sticky substances any longer and is losing effectiveness as a result.
And during the postgame press conference, Giolito went off, referring to to Donaldson as “classless” and a “fucking pest.” Giolito also said, “If you’re going to talk shit, talk shit to my face.”

As background, breakout, out-of-nowhere, fun hitter Yermin Mercedes is having the season of a lifetime, and yesterday, with the White Sox routing the Twins, he decided to swing on a 3-0 pitch from position player Willians Astudillo. Mercedes crushed it. People complained about the count or the situation or some other stupid thing:
3-0 bomb from Yermin Mercedes off of a position player!
