Marauding Mighty Wanderers FC were on rampage as they welcomed their club’s President, Dr Thom Mpinganjira in grand style with a sweet victory as they walloped Chitipa United 4-0 to book a quarter final place in the FDH Bank Cup on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Lali Lubani boys scored four goals courtesy of Peter Wadabwa, while a hat trick was enough for Vincent Nyanguru to show the Chitipa boys an exit-door in the FDH Bank to deny them any chance to withdraw money.
From the first whistle, the Nomads were intentional to carry the day home and showed seriousness as they kept the visitors on a tight rope, especially from the wings, where Francis Mulimbika and Stanley Sanudi were overlapping to supply good crosses inside the box.

“This is great news to the club, players and supporters. We are very happy.”
Mighty Wanderers players and staunch supporters can now breath a sigh of relief following the good news that the club has partnered with Salima Sugar Company for the rest of the season.
Details of the partnership, including the amount involved, remain sketchy but officials indicated that Salima Sugar Company is willing to fully sponsor Wanderers from next season, and that for the meantime, they will be able to pay salaries and other things.
Both Wanderers Chairperson Chancy Gondwe and Salima Sugar’s Company Secretary Charles Thupi confirmed the development, saying the partnership would be unveiled soon.
“It has literary ended in tears for everyone.”
Everything was shambolic. And chaotic. Tearful and uneventful it was and a match one badly want to forget to remember.
Poor officiation, tempers, teargas and pelting of stones marred the much touted Blantyre derby on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.
Old derby rivalry refuses to die
The game was tense and dictated by old-rivalry antics with both teams wanting to carry home not only bragging rights of the commercial city, but also honour.
In the end the game end in tears for both as the match finished in a deadlock with both sides netting a goal each.
“Their presence is a morale booster.”
The Nomads, Mighty Wanderers will be injected with a morale booster as they are geared to welcome back into fold two of their influential players, captain Alfred Manyozo Jnr and Vincent Nyanguru ahead of Blantyre Derby scheduled for Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
On one hand, Manyozo missed their previous game against the cops, the Blue Eagles at Nankhaka ground as he was serving yellow cards, while Nyanguru missed 3 matches against Chitipa, Ntopwa and Blue Eagles.
Nyanguru was attending to his sick mother.
Fortunately, the duo will be available for the Blantyre Derby and coach, Bob Mpinganjira said their presence is a morale booster to the rest of the squad.
