STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island parents are continuing the fight to get their kids back in the classroom full time.
Dozens of Staten Island families gathered outside the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) building on Saturday in Eltingville to call for a full reopening of New York City’s public schools and an abolishment of the current policy that sees schools shutter whenever two unrelated coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are discovered in the same building.
“We want our schools open now. We want them open five days a week. And we want our high school sports back,” said Leticia Remauro, a candidate for Borough President.
