UNICOMER (OECS) Limited continues to make good on its commitment to provide much needed relief and support to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), following the volcanic eruption of La Soufriere, which left many residents abandoned and displaced.

Unicomer (St. Lucia) Limited led the charge immediately following the first eruption, sending emergency supplies to the Unicomer St Vincent staff. Managing Director, Mr. Vincent Gordon stated that, “Following the eruption, we rushed to ensure that the needs of our team members were met, quickly shipping disaster supplies for them and their families. However, we couldn’t stop there. Our Courts brands have been a part of the Kingstown community for years. We felt compelled to act, and solicited extended support from a key sister company in the Caribbean.”

On Saturday, April 10, Unicomer OECS, hosted its 1st Annual iConnect Staff Event. The event was held virtually and was aimed at recognizing and rewarding employees for their contributions to the company.
Adhering to COVID-19 protocols, the company moved away from a traditional “ballroom” ceremony to a live, interactive and virtual event. Employees were invited to join the event from the comfort of their homes, sharing the moment with their families and friends. The Company also facilitated grouped viewing in Countries where COVID-19 regulations permitted.

UNICOMER (Saint Lucia) Limited yesterday noted the closure of its in-store retail operations in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines which includes Courts, Ready Cash, RadioShack & Servitech as of Friday, April 9th, 2021 until further notice. The closure was in response to the Le Soufriere volcanic activity on the island.

Unicomer, OECS, Managing Director, Mr. Vincent Gordon shared, “We have been closely monitoring the activity on the island. As the situation escalated, our immediate priority was the safety of our teams. Once we were notified of the deteriorating conditions, our disaster response committee on island acted quickly to minimize their exposure. We are pleased to report that we are in direct communication with every member of staff, and that our staff is safe.”
