The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy (COP) will be holding its fourth-annual Poor Man’s Run on April 24 at 8 a.m. Every year the COP holds a 1-Mile Fun-Run and a 5K to raise money for St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy (SVDP)- a non-profit pharmacy that serves those who cannot afford medicine. This year the event adds a jambalaya cook-off. to follow. Registration is now open, as well as recruitment for volunteer cooks.

DALLAS Three years ago, St. Vincent De Paul Pharmacy opened its doors on Pineland Drive in Dallas. It was the first charitable pharmacy in Texas, filling prescription medications for free for individuals who qualify.
It continues to grow, and this year, it expanded eligibility. This means more people can now use the service. Up until last month, we could only serve the uninsured below 200% [of the federal poverty level], said CEO Michael Pazzaglni.

Poor Man s Run ticket options start at $15 to run and include an SVDP Poor Man’s Run T-shirt. There will also be all-inclusive packages with all-you-can-eat jambalaya for $5 more. There will be special awards after the race. Registration information can be found at this link.
