On Thursday of this week before the West Virginia series, Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball reported just how bad the injury front looked for #8 Texas Tech.
INJURY NEWS: Just brutal news out of Lubbock. When it rains, it pours. @TTU Baseball’s Dylan Neuse will likely be out for the year with a back injury, and Kurt Wilson is out at least six weeks with a broken thumb. Unreal. #Wreckem#Big12 Kendall Rogers (@KendallRogers) April 15, 2021

GRANVILLE, W.Va. West Virginia pitcher Jake Carr hasn’t had the type of sophomore season the Mountaineers envisioned from him to this point.
Improvement from Carr could be critical to the Mountaineers turning their season around, and the St. Albans native took a big step forward in that department Wednesday to help West Virginia get even with Marshall.
Carr threw four solid innings, allowing one run on two hits and settling in after the first inning to help West Virginia defeat Marshall 9-3 at Monongalia County Ballpark.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Redshirt junior Vince Ippoliti connected on a two-run homer in the tenth inning to give West Virginia a season-opening 5-3 win at Georgia State Friday afternoon. It was the Mountaineers’ first game in 345 days.
“We didn’t play great. We didn’t even catch the pop-ups. Because when you practice inside, there are no pop-ups. It keeps hitting the roof. That’s the play we are not good at yet but we will get there,” said WVU head coach Randy Mazey. The Mountaineers won despite committing three errors.
