LEFTOVER SALMON celebrates the Brand New Good Old Days

Known for their exhilarating live shows and musicianship as well as their eclectic musical tastes,  Leftover Salmon has been one of Colorado’s most beloved musical exports, picking up where bands like Little Feat, the Band and The Grateful Dead left off and distilling it into their own potent brew of bluegrass, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, Cajun, soul, zydeco and jazz and blues. As Tim Newby, author of Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival!, wrote “When listening to Leftover Salmon it is easy to draw a line that runs straight from Bill Monroe to John Hartford to the Grateful Dead to Hot Rize to Little Feat to New Grass Revival to Col. Bruce Hampton and end with Leftover Salmon.”

Leftover Salmon returns to Compass Records

Compass Records is proud to welcome Leftover Salmon back to the label for a release in late spring 2021. For 30 years, the group has been one of Colorado’s most beloved musical exports, picking up where bands like Little Feat, The Band and The Grateful Dead left off and distilling their music into a potent brew of bluegrass, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, Cajun, soul, zydeco, jazz and blues.  Compass Records, known for its roster of Americana and roots music artists and its award-winning bluegrass releases, released the band’s album LIVE in 2002, as well as several of lead singer/mandolinist Drew Emmitt’s solo projects, and is excited to partner with the forward-thinking roots outfit again.

Kyle Tuttle Releases New Live EP

Kyle Tuttle is releasing his second album, a live EP Kyle Tuttle Live in 2020, Friday, February 26, almost a year to date when the album was recorded. The album features songs recorded live two different nights, at The Mill & Mine in Knoxville, TN on February 26, 2020 and The Hunt House in Atlanta, Georgia on February 28 2020, opening for Railroad Earth. At the time of recording, no one knew what the next year would bring. It was Kyle Tuttle Band’s (KTB) first tour of the year, and subsequently also the last before COVID-19 hit. Kyle Tuttle Band brings high energy jams with a rocky, bluegrass style. The band consists of James Kittleman on drums, Julian Pinelli, fiddle, and Ben DeBerry on bass. The live EP brings a handful of covers such as “Mystery Train” originally by Junior Parker, which is the first released single available on Friday, February 12.  Tuttle also brings some of his originals like “Birdie Strut”  which is an upbeat instrumental with a catchy flow.

Planning and Zoning Commission approves 42 home development plat

Payson could soon see 42 homes developed by the airport along with a wider street. During its Dec. 7 meeting, the Payson Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Starview Estates subdivision at the top of Airport Road off of Falcon Crest Road. It will now go before the Payson Town Council. The project does not need any zoning changes, but town staff is requiring the developer to improve Falcon Crest Road down to Airport Road by widening the road and adding sidewalks. The only complaint about the staff’s request came from commission member Phil Mason, who worried the increased expense to the developer would result in higher priced homes.
