Ravikumar has urged NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL) to set up an oxygen plant at the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital (GVMCH) to meet the rising demand for medical oxygen.
In a letter addressed to NLCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Rakesh Kumar, Mr. Ravikumar said that the second wave of COVID-19 had hit the State like a tsunami.

Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar has urged the Puducherry administration to ensure that adequate steps are taken to utilise all the government hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.
In a memorandum presented on Monday to Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan seeking steps to tackle the pandemic situation, Mr. Ravikumar said that presently the incidence of COVID-19 in Puducherry was on the rise as could be evidenced by the registration of not less than 1, 000 cases a day.
He said 90% of the patients were in home isolation. This is a discouraging sign as the chances of spread of pandemic were strong. This should be reversed and the government should ramp up facilities, he said.

Pay dues to the families of the deceased health workers, says Ravikumar
Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar has urged the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan to take immediate steps to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) Insurance scheme and pay the dues to the families of deceased health workers.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Harsh Vardhan, the Villupuram MP said that it was shocking to learn that the government had stopped the PMGKP scheme at this critical time when the second wave of COVID-19 was hitting the country. The Union Government had introduced this scheme to provide a safety net to the health workers who are fighting COVID-19.

Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar has expressed shock over the incident of five members of a family from the district allegedly ending their lives over heavy debt and demanded the police to register a case against the firm for lending money at exorbitant rate of interest.
In a statement he said that henchmen belonging to private finance firms had forced the family to repay usurious interest forcing them to take the extreme step.
Mr. Ravikumar called upon the State Government to ensure that the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Rate of Interest Act passed way back in 2003 was implemented strictly to prevent any attempt to charge usurious and high-interest lending.
