Former Bay City Rollers frontman Les McKeown has been remembered following his passing, aged 65, after appearing on the Costa Blanca south in 2019.
“We say Bye Bye Baby one last time from the Villamartin Plaza to our dear friend Leslie Richard McKeown who left us Tuesday evening,” Casey Shaddock who booked McKeown’s Bay City Rollers to perform in Spain told The Leader.
“Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to Peko, the family, and all of the band,” said Shaddock.
Shaddock, the President and spokesperson for Villamartin Plaza, said: “It was a pleasure Les, ‘Villamartini’ as you always called it, will always remember you.”

We report on the sad death of Popular restauranteur Eddie Wright, the founder of Eduardo’s restaurant in Villamartin Plaza. Eddie passed away last Tuesday having spent the last 8 weeks in a coma, suffering from coronavirus.
Eddie still has many colleagues and friends in the area, evident by the outpouring of grief on local social media pages. Our condolences are with wife Debbie and the family, who are now based on the Costa del Sol.
News at long last on the project of the walkway over the AP7, linking La Regia and Lomas de Cabo Roig, after questions raised in the Orihuela Plenary by AVOCA. Completion promised in 2 years…where have I heard that before?

This week on Q&A I spoke to fellow Wexfordian, Cllr George Lawlor, former Mayor of Wexford who owns a property at the Villamartin Plaza.
Why did you choose the Costa Blanca as your second home?
In 2002 we wanted to invest in property and were thinking about purchasing an investment property in Ireland, but the cost at the time was off the scale. In comparison, Spain had so much to offer and in particular the Costa Blanca. Value for money, quality and range of properties on offer and wonderful sunshine. These were in abundance on the Costa Blanca. Initially we bought with the intention of renting but that soon turned into our purchase becoming a home from home.
