Opinions on Erie County’s recent mask mandate led to confusion in the Village of Williamsville last week, and Deputy Mayor Matthew Etu is working to make sure it’s clear the village complies. But as small communities voice their compliance, or concern, a group of protesters are saying businesses and communities might see them either maskless, or not at all. Williamsville District chooses Darren Brown-Hall as new superintendent, vote set for next week

The Williamsville School District has chosen Dr. Darren Brown-Hall to potentially become its new superintendent. All that is left is a school board vote on Thursday to confirm his hiring.  Teresa Leatherbarrow, the Board of Education president, confirmed this in a statement to WBFO on Friday. Brown-Hall is currently second-in-command at Buffalo Public Schools, where he is the chief of staff. Credit WBFO file photo The 47-year-old Brown-Hall will become the first Black superintendent in the suburbs, as well as the first openly gay superintendent in the county, according to The Buffalo News. The Buffalo News was the first to break the story, citing unnamed sources.

In a release sent to 7 Eyewitness News, Congressman Brian Higgins office said President Joe Biden s proposed $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package includes more that $792 million earmarked for communities in both Erie and Niagara Counties. “Over the last year, our communities have borne the brunt of costs and duties associated with responding to the pandemic and this work continues today,” said Congressman Higgins. “It is the responsibility of the federal government to provide states and regions with disaster relief during times of national emergency.”
