Our CorrespondentDiphu, July 2 (EMN): As per the high court order, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority directed the Land and Revenue department to carry out an eviction drive inside the 25 bighas land allotted to District Judicial Court in Diphu on Saturday. The KAAC had allotted 25 bighas of land to the District Judicial Court for the construction of the court complex, but the land was encroached by illegal settlers. There were a total of 35 houses as unauthorised settlers in the said land, while the encroachers named the place as Rongpangthir village. While carrying out the eviction drive, the encroachers protested against the department stating that they were settled in the place for more than 15 years. One of the encroachers, objecting to the encroachment activities informed that they have submitted a memorandum to Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang and requested him not to be evicted.
