Stepping up his attack on the BJP, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut today said the Sena was the first party in the country to contest an election on "Hindutva" plank and that it was after its win that the BJP approached Bal Thackeray for an alliance.
Firing a fresh salvo at the BJP which had accused the Shiv Sena of paying only lip service to the cause of Hindutva, party MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday claimed that the Sena was the first party in the country to contest an election on the Hindutva plank.

Mumbai, Feb 5 : In a jolt to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, the saffron party s Mumbai Vice-President and ex-legislator Krishna Hegde joined the ruling Shiv Sena here on Friday evening.
When contacted by IANS, Hedge confirmed the development after emerging from a meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at the latter s residence. I have joined the Shiv Sena. The CM has asked me to help the party s growth, especially in Vile Parle, and work for the progress of Mumbai, Hegde said briefly.
