Entertainment venue closure extended, snorkeling and diving prohibited
PHUKET: Following yesterday’s (Apr 17) meeting of the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee, it has been confirmed that the closure of entertainment venues has been extended and that diving and snorkeling have been listed as prohibited after a recent spate of 10 cases were detected related to the activities.

The committee agreed to continue following the national order issued by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) and also confirmed that there will be no lockdown in Phuket due to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic so far in affecting the economy, tourism, people’s businesses and livelihoods.

The 52-year-old man who was riding his motorbike at speed when he lost control and fell onto the road in front of Supalai Hill housing estate on Trang Rd in Rassada, reported the Phuket Provincial office of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM-Phuket).
The man suffered head injuries in the accident. He was first taken to Mission Phuket Hospital and later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town, the report added.

Maj Gen Pornsak Nuannoo, Commander of the Phuket Provincial Police, on Saturday confirmed hat legal action was being taken against the operators of the three entertainment venues that hosted the mass parties last weekend: Illuzion nightclub on Bangla Rd, Shelter club also in Patong and Cafe Del Mar in Kamala.

PHUKET: Sixteen more coronavirus cases have been reported in Phuket, lifting the number of infections found there recently to 26.
Deputy governor Vikrom Jakthee said on Friday that quick response and investigation was proving successful in containing the spread of the viral disease in the province.
Covid-19 vaccine shots had began to create a herd immunity in the local population, as the province prepared to reopen its doors to tourists on July 1, Mr Vikrom said.
