Chhattisgarh Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi had a narrow escape after his convoy was attacked by Naxals near Padeda village in Bijapur district. The incident took place when the Congress MLA was returning from a public meeting.
Villagers are also opposed to the construction of a paved road meant to connect several villages to the block and district headquarters, fearing it will ease harassment of locals.
