Viking Holds Vaccination Event

Viking Yacht Co. held an initial in-house vaccination clinic last week, inoculating 210 of its more than 1,350 employees with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
The program, organized in conjunction with southern New Jersey’s AtlantiCare, was held at the builder’s facility in New Gretna, N.J. Viking plans to hold another vaccination effort at its Mullica River plant later this month.
Viking said the vaccinations are intended for workers as well as their families.

The International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee agreed to delay enforcement of IMO Tier III engine emission regulations for vessels larger than 78 feet, a move the Coast Guard said it would support due to the lack of technology and the delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Several groups, including the National Marine Manufacturers Association, the European Boating Industry and the International Council of Marine Industry Associations worked with the IMO, who granted the 3-year extension.

With the cancellation of the February Miami shows this year, Viking Yacht Co. extended its VIP Boat Show in Riviera Beach, Fla., to three days last weekend.
The New Gretna, N.J.-based builder showed 14 Viking models from 38 to 82 feet and the entire Valhalla Boatworks lineup, including the world premiere of the V-46.
“Without the 2021 Miami shows, we decided to give people more opportunity to come to our VIP and see our yachts in a friendly, safe boat-show setting,” Viking president and CEO Pat Healey
said in a statement. “With the extra day, our attendance was spread out over a longer period, which helped with social distancing.”
