The Viking battle that took place in Wirral

A professor from Wallasey spoke on Viking heritage in Wirral as part of Wirral Libraries first online lecture. Professor Steve Harding (University of Oslo and Nottingham) presented evidence to listeners that suggests that the Battle of Brunanburh AD937 took place in Wirral. The lecture was part of Wirral Libraries annual April lectures where they bring in local and national speakers to talk on different topics of particular interest. Steve, who is also a huge supporter of Tranmere Rovers, said: “It was a great honour when Diane Mitchell, Diane Moore and Kirsten Hume of Wirral Libaries approached me and I had no hesitation in accepting.”
