As the elections are due, now it is for the State Government to decide when the elections would be held for the civic agency which saw the last list of corporators. This means the BBMP’s ward size that had briefly extended (only on paper) from 198 to 243 has now dropped to 225.
The naming of these wards had previously stirred considerable controversy during the previous round of delimitation. Interestingly, out of the 3,833 objections received concerning the initial draft notification outlining plans for 243 wards, a notable 51 percent of these objections were directly tied to the nomenclature of the wards themselves. This issue ignited significant public discourse and debate.
