Premalatha Vijayakanth, wife of Vijayakanth and general secretary of the DMDK, said that this is the first time that Tamil Nadu has seen such an emotional farewell in its history.
Vijayakanth, who passed away on Thursday morning, was laid to rest at his party headquarters with full state honour. Many political leaders and celebrities were present at the funeral.
Vijayakanth, founder-leader of DMDK and renowned Tamil actor, passed away at 71. He was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and was on ventilatory support.
