The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has decided to launch a special drive to clear footpath encroachments in Hubballi-Dharwad. The drive will be jointly conducted by HDMC and the police department. This decision comes after receiving complaints and instructions from elected representatives. The HDMC will issue an ultimatum for footpath clearance and take legal action against encroachers.
The RMC has designated 131 routes for around 4,500 registered electric rickshaws in a bid to modernise the city’s transportation infrastructure. The route plan would be published by January 10. RMC administrator Ameet Kumar said, “The strategic integration of e-rickshaws into the city’s transportation infrastructure and their route mapping have been done to reduce traffic snarls, promote sustainable commuting, and contribute to a healthier environment.”
