issues of criminal justice reform, matt gates has been willing to listen. what i want to say to the viewing public as that we will see a congress that you have never seen before. there are at least 40 to election deniers that got elected. there are members that are on the floor last evening that were at the insurrection, physically there. matt gates is a true supporter of donald trump. never in the history, i believe the current history has a president had such an intrusive influence on the votes that were taking place. on the floor of the united states congress. particularly the house, yesterday. that is unusual. and so, what we saw yesterday was a combination of calamity. viewpoints that are not consistent with democracy, in making sure that there s not a half a loaf but the whole loaf. that means that all of us are included and the views are more widely respected by americans.
unusual alliance i talked with some of the members who said when it first came up that liz cheney was to be the vice chair, that there was deep skepticism among some of the democrats, because they remember liz cheney as this partisan brawler who had attacked them and taken down some of their best ideas this is dick cheney s daughter there was a lot of deep skepticism but liz cheney sort of proved herself over and over again through the course of this investigation. and over time, the other members of the committee thought well, liz is so into this. she is so detail oriented, she is so aggressive we really need to defer to her around some of these key decisions. it s such an interesting and it was so opaque, the viewing public i want to read and ask you about what you and your colleagues report on cassidy hutchinson, clearly the sort of most electric public hearing, and her transcripts sort of pull the thread all the way to the final
of. melissa, your first reaction? as a law professor, i love seeing all of these and knows. we live for that kind of documentation and again, as joy says, it really is the kind of treasure trove that allows the viewing public to actually delve in and find all of this information. it s also a roadmap to federal prosecutors as they determine whether they are going to take up these criminal referrals enough to go further into a criminal investigation, and possibly even a criminal prosecution. one of the things that really stands out here is that the committee has made a really painstaking case that some of the big issues the criminal prosecution, the mental state of donald trump, are really answer here. the law requires that he had acted with a corrupt purpose or corruptly, they detail here and excruciating, meticulous detail the way in which donald trump knew and was told that there was no election fraud, that this election had been validly

pages, give it to ten people the each read 100 pages. is going to create an expectation amongst us in the news business, amongst our viewing public when they see these criminal referrals. does that have any influence on the department of justice? they are not looking at cable news to decide whether they should how can you weigh the reaction by the public when you describe an excellent investigation and what the department of justice actually decide to do about it? as i said, the category that they are unaware of, i think it will be very helpful. i think they will look at that very carefully. for the referrals that may come for individuals associated with donald trump, or who were involved in the conspiracy overturning the election, i think that the only real impact on the department of justice is they may feel compelled to respond to congress. to explain their decision, ultimately if they do not
