Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, now on a working visit to the US and the United Nations, received US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington DC in May 13 morning (local time).
Representatives of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) all hailed Vietnam’s development potential and desired to expand cooperation with this market, during their May 12 meeting with visiting Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Energy is among potential fields for investment cooperation between Vietnamese and US firms, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announcing that Vietnam gives high priority to sustainable energy development to maintain national energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Tan Cong.
The US will increase exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam regarding climate change response in a bid to realise major goals set by the two countries’ leaders at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), said US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the US set a new milestone, hitting 111.5 billion USD in 2021, up nearly 21 billion USD over the previous year, according to the General Department of Customs.
