Corporator files PIL in HC over debated road in Viman Nagar

A critical link road that lost its way in the multiple realignments forged by
Pune Municipal Corporation (
PMC) in the city’s
development plan (DP) over decades is now central to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Republican Party of India (RPI) corporator Siddharth Dhende before
Bombay High Court.
The saga of the road, originally meant to link Viman Nagar to the VVIP Airport Road, began in 1990. However, after being realigned several times, particularly in 2017 and 2019, the road that was found leading to a building rather than the road it was to connect to, finally disappeared, with PMC officials claiming they could not find it.
