Our Reporter Dimapur, Aug. 23 (EMN): Nagaland witnessed its first-ever official Paralympic Games here at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan, Dimapur, on Tuesday. The one-day Paralympic Games which consisted of three disciplines, namely para-bocce, para-judo, and para-shot-put, was conducted successfully and concluded on a high note. State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro, who graced the opening ceremony as special guest, in her address said the day marks a huge step forward for the para sport movement and hoped the movement will grow bigger and stronger. The commissioner said there is so much potential in sport for the youth with disabilities and the vision is to design and build a strong para-sport programme to train and support the athletes to enable them to excel in sporting arenas across the globe. Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): Nagaland will witness its first ever official Paralympic Games on August 23 at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Kuda village, Dimapur, informed the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) in an update. The one-day Paralympic Games will consist of para-bocce, para-judo and para-shotput and a total of 65 para-athletes, organisers and officials will be part of the games. NOA stated it is overwhelmed with the tremendous response received from all the districts with a total of 1894 participants (1615 athletes and 279 team managers and coaches) from 16 districts taking part in the Games. The Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 kicked off with the football event on August 17 at IG Stadium, Kohima, and a total of 344 football participants from 15 districts are at present in the Games Village Meriema, it stated.
