A track that delivered for XE
After Saudi Arabia I was calling for a shorter or tighter track. Senegal delivered the latter, with a hugely technical and physical challenge that was a world away from the vast open spaces of the desert.
The result was a course that allowed drivers to follow, battle, and compete. Overtaking might not have been all that easy, but that just made every passing move that did come off all the more special – and there was a good few of those, and not just off the start line either.
There’s no fans at these events, and while us journalists are supposed to remain professional, the cheers and jubilation coming from the media center in practically every session showed just how good the racing was.

The new shipment requirement is one example of the extra cost and complexity that firms across continental Europe face serving British customers since Jan. 1, adding to disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic to drive UK-EU trade volumes lower.

Rome; and Stockholm
Post-Brexit trade rules means High Quality Foods, a Rome-based food supplier to high-end outlets from artisanal bakers to West End eateries, struggles with documentation on specialty meat products like beef from Black Angus cattle crossed with an Italian breed.
“There seems to be a trap in every corner,” lamented managing director Simone Cozzi, adding the company’s hygiene officer – a trained veterinarian – now needed to spend extra time with them when filling in the necessary paperwork.
Mr. Cozzi said delays at customs points had also added to transport costs because drivers want more money to compensate for wasted time, while air shipments can be held in a U.K. airport for 24-plus hours compared to only 30-45 minutes in Hong Kong.
