The nationwide practice, which employs 120 staff across studios in Manchester, London, Leeds and Glasgow, has reported strong results for the financial year, annual turnover growing by 22% to £7.3m.
Julian Broster, co-founding director of Civic Engineers, said: “We recognise that our strong growth has been in contrast with many businesses that have suffered unfairly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the role of engineering is becoming more important as we work to ensure healthier cities, mitigate flood risks and find creative solutions on the journey to Net Zero. These areas have always been a key focus for our business.

Far East Consortium and Manchester City Council’s 390-acre masterplan will now be known as Victoria North, a move that aims to “create a sense of place”, according to Gavin Taylor, regional general manager at FEC in Manchester.
“The Northern Gateway has served us well as a name as we shaped plans for the area’s regeneration. But as we begin to bring forward development this year, it’s the right time to start creating a sense of place for what will be a significant new district in Manchester, as well as an identity that people can engage with,” he said.
The developer has appointed a panel comprising Trafford Housing Trust, Great Places Housing Group and the Guinness Partnership to deliver affordable housing at the Red Bank neighbourhood, part of the 15,000-home Manchester masterplan.
