Morgan County District Judge Shelly Waters on Friday found probable cause that a Decatur man sexually tortured and murdered an 8-month-old girl.
After hearing testimony from a Decatur police detective, Waters bound Cameron Almen Elliott, 22, over to the grand jury. Elliott is charged with capital murder.

An 8-month-old girl who police say was murdered and sexually tortured by a Decatur man had genital bruising that came from penetration, according to a police affidavit filed in court Wednesday.
The girl, born June 1, also had welts on her neck, bruising on her face, shoulder and legs and a bite mark on her arm, police said.

An 8-month-old girl who police say was beaten and tortured by a Decatur man died Monday after brain activity ceased and she was taken off life support, according to the Morgan County coroner.
The girl had been in critical condition at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham since early Wednesday morning after Decatur police say she was assaulted late last Tuesday night by Cameron Almen Elliott, 22, 1839 Brownstone St. Elliott was initially charged with second-degree assault and various drug charges, and was being held in Morgan County Jail in lieu of $260,000 bail.

An 8-month-old girl who was the victim of an alleged assault last week had severe bruising over much of her body, a bite mark on her arm and was gasping for air when Decatur police arrived, according to a police affidavit filed Friday.
The girl remained in critical condition Friday afternoon at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, according to police.
Cameron Almen Elliott, 22, 1839 Brownstone St., Decatur, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree assault, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, police said. He remained in Morgan County Jail on Friday with bail set at $260,000, according to jail records.
