At around 10:20 a.m., Deputy LoVasco from the San Bernardino County Sheriff s Hesperia Station was flagged down by a motorist who witnessed a male passenger attacking a Victor Valley Transit bus driver. “A male passenger got up and attacked the driver and was armed with a knife,” said Sgt. Volunteers with the Desert Mountain Children’s Center and Victor Valley Rescue Mission distributed food boxes and toys to nearly 2,000 children and their families during the annual “Great Christmas Toy Giveaway” on Saturday at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville. Later that evening, the nonprofit High Desert Second Chance also hosted a drive-through food and toy giveaway at its warehouse in Hesperia. The event was held in connection with the VVRM event earlier that day.
