Air base substation commissioned as hottest months near

State-run energy supplier Electricite du Cambodge (EdC) has commissioned a 115kV high-voltage substation to supply Phnom Penh residents with power as demand soars, according to its director-general Keo Rottanak.
He said the facility, also known as “Grid Substation Airforce”, is located on 3,375sqm just north of the Pochentong Air Base compound, in Por Sen Chey district’s Kakab commune, adjacent to Phnom Penh International Airport.
The substation has a conversion capacity of 75 megavolt-amperes (MVA) with 115kV overhead lines to connect with Grid Substation No 3 (GS3) in Sen Sok district’s O’Bek Ka’am commune and deliver electricity to Por Sen Chey, Dangkor and Sen Sok districts, according to Rottanak.
JA Solar and Shanxi Electric Power Engineering worked on the 257MW solar farm in Vietnam’s Phu Yen province. - Phnom Penh Post/ANN PHNOM PENH, March 14 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): A 39MW solar power plant in far northwestern Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province has been successful brought to the national grid, Shenzhen-listed solar development company JA Solar Technology Co Ltd has announced.
The company noted that it supplied all photovoltaic (PV) modules for the project, which convert solar radiations directly to direct-current (DC) electricity.
The solar farm was contracted by Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co Ltd (SEPEC), an affiliate of China Energy Engineering Group, it said.
A 39MW solar power plant in far northwestern Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province has been successful brought to the national grid, Shenzhen-listed solar development company JA Solar Technology Co Ltd said in press release on March 10.

ADB okays $16M loan for solar farm

Japanese-led Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $16.4 million loan for a new 60MW alternating-current solar farm in Kampong Chhnang province’s southwestern district of Teuk Phos.
This comes after the Council for the Development of Cambodia’s (CDC) on February 5 gave nod to the project, which the council noted had capital investment of $37.4 million and would be developed and operated by a Thai special purpose vehicle named Prime Road Alternative (Cambodia) Co Ltd.

Three solar farms to add 120MW in 2021

Three solar farms with a total 120MW of installed capacities are on track to be connected to the national grid by this year’s end, to help keep pace with growing demand and slash electricity prices, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Victor Jona, the director-general of the ministry’s General Department of Energy listed the projects as a 60MW solar farm in Battambang province, a 30MW project in Pursat province and another 30MW facility in Banteay Meanchey province.
