The President of African Bar Association (AfBA) and Nigerian Human Rights Advocate, Mr Hannibal Uwaifo, has called on African Heads of States and governments to persuade the authorities of the Cape Verde Island to rescue itself from the diplomatic sludge of holding on to Ambassador Alex Saab, a doubly accredited Venezuela Special Envoy and Alternate permanent representative to the African Union.
We demand that Alex Saab should be released immediately and his persecution and chastisement in illegal custody in Cape Verde, merely to satisfy the whims of a super power be brought to an end forthwith as has been ordered by a binding unanimous ECOWAS Court ruling on December 2, 2020.

Managing Director of Royal African Young Leadership Forum, RAYLFa, Bello Bala Shagari, has described the appointment of Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as a paradigm shift.
He also urged the senate to ensure his nomination is confirmed without delay. The RAYLF boss said this in a statement made available to Vanguard.
His words: “The appointment of the New EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa by His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari is step towards youth inclusion and a paradigm shift in Nigeria.
“This is a first time that a 40 year old trained investigator of the EFCC is heading the anti corruption body and a Federal agency as important as the EFCC. The appointment is on merit and timely, and first of its kind in Africa.
‘Why are lives of cows more valued?’

The Organization For Global Youth Peace Empowerment And Development Initiative, (OGYPEDI), has condemned what it described as the manner the Buhari administration is handling farmers/headers crisis.
Speaking through its National Coordinator, Mr. Japhet Omene, the group said: “With the way the presidency is reacting to the crisis, it seems like more value is placed in the lives of cows than that of humans. Hence the audacity hearders have to roam about the country armed with rifles.
“We continue to experience incidents of destruction of farmlands by cows in different communities and when citizens decide to defend their communities due to the brazen failure of government to do so, government quickly orders their arrest. Why are the lives of cows more valued than human lives? We expect that a swift action will be taken by the government to hold these errant hearders to account.

It also urged the security heads to work in harmony with the civil society to ensure that no group has the capacity to challenge the state.
The group in a statement by its spokesman, Abulazeez Sulaiman, also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ” reassert himself by taking direct control of the fight to secure the nation and to finally reclaim the nation’s forests, highways and sea that have been lost to insurgents, other armed criminals. ”
