The Friday canvass of the votes from the general election left Charles Gaylor IV as the highest vote-getter in the Goldsboro mayor’s race against competitor Raymond Smith Jr.
A three-term member of the town board and a veteran who ran for mayor in 2022 will battle for the mayor’s post in Mount Olive in the upcoming election race.
